Manager Ryan Jobson welcomed back his former club captain Karl Scott after more than two years out through a ravaging leg injury. The highly experienced local defender had several knee operations as well as extensive rehabilitation but has incredibly battled back against all the odds to make a return to senior football.
"Karl is an inspiration to everyone as a player and as a person. At one point, specialist's feared that Karl may lose his leg but he's battled back and never given up to get back into football. He played in the recent Trident Soccer Cup and has supported our three senior teams, even on crutches, for the past 30 months. It's been a long haul for Karl and everyone was delighted when he got stripped and came on against Wallsend Boys Club. His determination to get back playing football is only matched by his determination on the field as a player," says Ryan.
